Cultural Exchange Program Strengthens Ties Between Faculty of International Studies and Chengdu University
In a significant step towards fostering international academic collaboration, the Faculty of International Studies (FIS) has initiated a student exchange program with Chengdu University (CDU). Since May 8, 2024, FIS has sent 91 students to Chengdu University for a summer semester lasting two months. Concurrently, CDU has sent 21 Chinese students majoring in Thai studies to FIS for a six-month academic exchange, beginning on May 14, 2024.
The exchange aims to enhance cultural understanding and academic collaboration between the two institutions. The Chinese students have been warmly welcomed by FIS and are participating in a variety of activities designed to immerse them in Thai culture. These activities include an orientation session, sightseeing in the historic Phuket Old Town, and cultural learning experiences at Baan Kanaan. Additionally, they are enrolled in classes focusing on Thai soft power subjects such as Thai language, dance, music, and handicrafts.
Beyond cultural immersion, the Chinese students will also engage in lecture sessions tailored to their independent study projects. A key highlight of their stay will be the opportunity to undertake internships with leading organizations and entrepreneurs in Phuket. This practical experience is expected to significantly enhance their academic and professional development.
The exchange program reflects a mutual commitment to enriching the educational experiences of students from both institutions. The initiative not only broadens the students’ academic horizons but also strengthens the bond between FIS and CDU, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultures.
This program underscores the value of international partnerships in higher education, providing students with invaluable experiences that extend beyond the classroom. The hope is that such collaborations will continue to grow, benefiting students and fostering global connections.
